OASIS Florida presents the 21st Annual Positive Living Conference on September 14-16, 2018 at The Island Hotel (formally the Ramada Inn) in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. This annual gathering of HIV+ advocates and allies, the nation’s oldest and largest gathering of PLHIV, with over 95% of attendees being persons living with HIV/AIDS. Positive Living provides a safe environment for the 400-450 attendees to relax, to network with other advocates and allies, and to be themselves in the company of their peers. After a weekend of interactive workshops, the conference ends with an open mic session where all attendees are encouraged to share and be heard.
According to Butch McKay, the Executive Director at Okaloosa AIDS Support and International Services Inc., who started the Positive Living Conference in 1997 and serves as its “Captain,” attendees come from all over the United States with a few from other countries each year. “Most of the attendees affectionately refer to the event as a family reunion,” McKay said. “Become a part of the family and register today. We expect to host in the neighborhood of 450 attendees.”
